Plot Summary
NYPD Detectives Christopher Danson and P.K. Highsmith (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) are the baddest and most beloved cops in New York City. They don't get tattoos - other men get tattoos of them. Two desks over and one back, sit Detectives Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg). You've seen them in the background of photos of Danson and Highsmith, out of focus and eyes closed. They're not heroes - they're "the Other Guys." But every cop has his or her day and soon Gamble and Hoitz stumble into a seemingly innocuous case no other detective wants to touch that could turn into New York City's biggest crime. It's the opportunity of their lives, but do these guys have the right stuff?

Allen Gamble si Terry Hoitz sunt doi detectivi new yorkezi cum nu se poate mai diferiti unul de celalalt, care sunt fortati sa lucreze in echipa din pricina unui incident public jenant in care a fost implicat cel de-al doilea. Allen Gamble este pasnic si calm, preferand siguranta muncii de birou in locul raidurilor periculoase de pe strazile metropolei si ingropandu-se in fiecare zi in hartii, in vreme ce Terry Hoitz este temperamental si dornic de actiune, simtindu-se impovarat de sarcina de a sta pe scaun si a se dedica activitatilor administrative cand exista atatia infractori care, o data capturati si trimisi in spatele gratiilor, i-ar putea asigura celebritatea si un statut privilegiat printre politisti. Singurul lucru care ii uneste pe cei doi camarazi este admiratia pentru politistii de top Danson si Highsmith, pe care ii adolatrizeaza si in locul carora si-ar dori sa fie. Insa atunci cand lui Gamble si Hoitz li se ofera oportunitatea de a se ridica la standardele inalte impuse de catre Danson si Highsmith, situatia nu evolueaza conform planului initial al celor doi.
